Mother's Day, also known as Mothering Sunday, is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent in the UK and Ireland. In 2024, it falls on 10 March, the same date observed unofficially in Nigeria. Those familiar with the Christian calendar will recognise this as the fourth Sunday of Lent — and that is no coincidence.
This day is dedicated to showing appreciation for the maternal figures in our lives — whether it be our own mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, or any other women who have nurtured and guided us.
